Spring Opening Checklist

Before your pool can be opened to the public, the following must be met:

  • Pool is in good repair before cleaning and filling (no cracks, smooth surface, etc.)
  • Gates are self-closing and self-latching
  • Regulation fence is in good repair
  • Signs are posted (including "No Lifeguard on Duty", "No Diving", pool rules, bather load, etc.)
  • Telephone at poolside is operational
  • "Emergency 911" sign is posted by telephone
  • Emergency life saving equipment is provided and accessible (shepherd's crook, ring buoy with rope, lifeline with floats)
  • Standard first aid kit on premises
  • Water quality test kit on premises
  • Water pH is between 7.2 and 7.6
  • Chlorine levels are between 1.0 and 3.0 ppm
  • Bromine levels are between 2.0 and 6.0 ppm
  • Chemical inline feeder is operational
  • Pool water temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit or above
  • Spa/hot tub water temperature is between 90 degrees F and 104 degrees F
  • Steps, ladders and handrails are in good repair
  • Depth markers are on deck and side walls of pool
  • Operating records are current and legible.
